There should have been no surprises when I attended a “Favorite Things” party last month I brought gift cards to a bookstore. I love books! The only New Years’ resolution/goal I make is to set a reading goal for myself. This year, my goal is to read 52 books. Do you set a reading goal or challenge for yourself?
I’m a pretty simple gal and use Goodreads for tracking my reading, but there are numerous sites and books out there that can help you track what you have read, want to read, and are currently reading.
Have I mentioned I love books? I will never read all the books that I want to read. How do you cultivate your reading list? Where do you get suggested reads from? Here’s some books I’ve read in the past year that I enjoyed, and a few from my “to read pile”. I’d love if you’d comment with some books on your “to read” list.
Ellen’s Recs:
Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption by Bryan Stevenson
Bryan Stevenson’s true story of defending the poor, incarcerated, and wrongly condemned. You can’t read this book without challenging your thinking.
The Astronaut’s Wife: How Launching My Husband into Outer Space Changed the Way I Live on Earth by Stacey Morgan
I got to meet Stacey at a MOPS convention and hear her speak about this time in her life. Her book was a great glimpse into how her family survived and thrived while her husband went to space on a nine-month mission aboard the International Space Station.
Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo
This novel-in-verse was hard to put down. It tells the story of two girls who have to face the death of their father, and yet, they’ve never met.
What’s on my “to be read” pile?
Know by Name by Chanel Miller
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
