5 Pairs of Shoes You Need In Your Closet Right Now

3

Let’s get real. We all get up every morning, get dressed in a hurry to drop the kids at school and/or head to work. The one thing that can make or break the “outfit of the day” is often our shoes. Flip flops are comfy but not real shoes, and 4-inch heels can be a bit much for the grocery store. Who can walk in those while carrying a toddler and the groceries anyway? And nobody needs 283 pairs of shoes either.

Here are 5 pairs of shoes that are both comfortable and stylish. They go with just about everything, and the best part is, in them, you will look put together — even when you’re feeling far from it.

1. Ballet Flats

We all need a pair of ballet flats. Period! I’m talking about a comfortable, classic flat that can be worn to the office, school meetings, weekend outings … basically anywhere! The basic flat shoe can be paired with a skirt, a dress, jeans or trousers. Ballet flats have been a closet staple for many years and are not going anywhere. Look for a pair that offer good arch support and a good sole. Foremost, you are looking for high comfort level. For years, I owned a pair of leather ones from Target that have traveled the world with me, but I also know that brands like Tieks make very comfortable options that people swear by.

2. Loafers

Last year Gucci brought the Classic Loafer back to the forefront of fashion. You might think Gucci and your daily life have nothing in common, but these shoes are another comfortable option that everyone should consider adding to their wardrobe. A classic loafer can be worn in place of a ballet flat adding a bit more structure and weight to an outfit. Can’t afford the Gucci loafer? Lucky for us Target, Amazon and Zara offer great dupes for we common mortals …

3. Flat ankle booties

Flat booties in leather or suede are a must-have for any closet. Booties are now worn year-round — with dresses in the summer, over tights in the winter, and, of course, paired with our favorites jeans. They elevate your style without too much thought. Find the one that will complement your style. Go with some hardware or laces if you like a more edgy look, or for a more classic look, go with black or brown classic leather.

4. Sneakers

Nothing beats the comfort of sneakers. They are a no-brainer when it comes to running errands or running after the kids. If you choose the right pair, you can wear them with many outfits. A more delicate, all white sneaker such as a Converse or Stan Smith are perfect! Wear them with your favorite leggings and a great cozy sweater. Don’t be afraid to pair them with a dress or skirt for a young, fresh look. Not a white sneaker kind of girl? Opt for a classic all black sneaker.

5. Tall flat boots

These boots were made for walking and that’s just what they’ll do. Go with knee highs, or if you want a little bit of “oh lala,” over the knee boots are a basic wardrobe staple. Regardless of your personal style, a tall boot is the answer to your morning dilemma. Make sure when you select your pair that comfort level is optimal with a clean, no fuss look.
