Dipped Oreos for All Occasions

Headed to a potluck? Dipped oreos. Family coming over for Christmas? Dipped Oreos. Celebrating the 4th of July with friends? Dipped Oreos. Dipped Oreos are by far the easiest and most festive dessert you can bring. Melt some chocolate, dip your cookie, add some sprinkles, and let them cool. Easy as 1, 2, 3…4!

Ingredients:

  1. Package of double stuff Oreos (Golden or Chocolate)
  2. Vanilla Almond Bark (You can also use chocolate or flavored candy melts)
  3. Sprinkles

Directions:

  1. Begin melting your chocolate/candy melts in a saucepan over low heat. This will take up to 10 min depending on how much you melt. I always use the whole bag/bar when I make my oreos because each package typically takes the majority of the full bar/bag of chocolate.
  2. Prep your area with wax/parchment paper laid out on top of a baking sheet and sprinkles ready next to pan.
  3. Once chocolate is melted add some vegetable oil to thin the chocolate a bit. I usually start with about a tablespoon and add more if need be. You want the chocolate thin enough to scoop some up and have it pour out of the spoon. Think of chocolate spilling over in a chocolate fountain.
  4. Once your chocolate is ready grab an Oreo, I pinch the smallest part of the cookie and then dip it into the chocolate and make sure to cover as much of the cookie as I can.
  5. Allow chocolate to run/drip off the Oreo before placing it on the lined cookie sheet. I will usually dip up to 4 cookies and then grab my sprinkles and decorate them in groups to speed the process up.

Notes:

Servings: 30 cookies
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 10 min to melt/30 min to dip
Total time: 40 minutes
Notes: Be sure to cool your cookies before serving and store them in a bag/container to keep them fresh.

If you’d like to do a full dipped Oreo then I recommend dipping the Oreo one side at a time, allowing the cookie to fully dry before going back for the dip on the other side. I usually just decorate one side, but I occasionally do the full cookie.

To add some festive fun to the cookie, I like using the flavored candy melts. During the Christmas season I always make a batch of peppermint dipped Oreos and then sprinkle them with candy cane bits.
