Thanksgiving Crafty Mom Alert
Anytime I find myself out in the stores near any holiday like Thanksgiving, I think that I have morphed into someone who is crafty. I would love to have a perfectly decorated home and be the kind of person who can sit and crochet or quilt or make my visions come to light.
But alas, I am not that girl.
However, I have found the perfect Thanksgiving craft that anyone can make successfully. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, so I bring you… a DIY Thanksgiving turkey wreath!

Materials Needed:
Foam wreath-let the size speak to you.
Acrylic Paint – Brownish and Yellowish
Styrofoam ball for the turkey head- choose a size that fits with the wreath size you selected.
Styrofoam cone for the turkey beak- I purchased a larger one that was in stock and trimmed it down.
Two Small styrofoam balls for the eyes
2 Google Eyes
1 red craft foam sheet
Brown Yarn
25 yards Red Tulle
25 yards Orange Tulle
25 yards Brown Tulle
25 yards Yellow Tulle
Glue Gun
Scissors
Cardboard Strip (optional)
Toothbrushes
Paintbrushes
Directions:
1. Cue up your favorite show or football game. This can definitely be done over the
course of an afternoon or in shorter installations.
2. Paint your Styrofoam ball brown. Let dry.
3. Paint your Styrofoam cone yellow. Let dry.

4. Put a drop of hot glue on your Styrofoam wreath and glue the end of the brown
yarn to your starting spot. Wrap the yarn around the wreath until approximately
1/3 is covered. Retrace your wrapping, adding a second layer of yarn back to the
starting spot. Use hot glue to secure both ends of the yarn.
5. Cut the tulle strips. You want 30-36 strips of each color.
6. You can measure the length you want or cut a piece of cardboard (I used a spare
Amazon box) and wrap the tulle around the board to “cut once.” You’ll want your
tulle strips approximately 16 inches.
7. Decide on the color pattern you’d like for your tulle “feathers.” I used yellow, orange, brown, and red.
8. Start next to the yarn and begin tying your tulle onto the wreath. I tied on five
strips of each color and then moved on to the next color. Repeat until you reach
the other side of the wreath.
9. I hot-glued the googly eyes onto the small Styrofoam balls and used a toothpick to connect the eyes and nose to the head.
10. Insert the head into the center of the brown yarn.
11. Cut a “snood” shape out of the red foam and hot glue it onto the turkey head.
Ta-da! Your turkey is ready to hang. If you want, you can tie a longer piece of tulle onto the wreath to use as a hanger.
