This week, my newly retired military spouse and I went through our list of favorite craft beers that we wanted to share with all of you!
It is the most beautiful season of the year – FALL!
There is nothing more I love during this season than to sit outside in our home state of Michigan and drink an amazing craft beer while watching the leaves change. Michigan is home to (in my biased opinion) some of the best craft beers in the world! Check out our selections and hopefully, you can plan a visit to see where these amazing brews come to life!
Soft Parade Fruit Ale
From Short’s Brewing Company in beautiful Northern Michigan, this particular beer has to be consumed ICE cold, and I have to be in a rather bubbly mood to drink it. At 7.5 ABV, I only need one or two to reach maximum capacity. These days, it doesn’t really take much! It’s got a definite fruity taste with raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries and just a tad of bitter.
Tropical Diabolical IPA
This is my freshly retired USCG husband’s ABSOLUTE favorite IPA. It comes from North Peak Brewing Co., which is yet again another amazing Michigan-based brewery. He was giddy like a school girl when he tried it for the first time. It’s pretty hoppy but not overbearing, which can also be said of the fruity flavor. He said it was fruity, but without stripping him of his “man card”…LOL

Our final tour was in California, and my husband had the opportunity to travel to southern California a lot. When he was in the San Diego area, he loved to enjoy one (or two or three) of the many different kinds of IPAs they have there. He said that he loves how they experiment with a variety of ingredients like citrus, pine, tropical fruit, and even habanero peppers. He says he likes the variety without the redundancy.
Oberon American Wheat Ale
This tastes like Michigan summer in a bottle (or can or on draft). This beer is spicy and fruity. I think it’s a really good summer beer, but I personally prefer it after all the Summer Shandy in our house is gone and it’s transitioning between summer and fall. It’s a really good representation of Michigan craft beer.
